Resettlement remains a key priority area for the Tufenkian Foundation. We approach resettlement holistically — not merely as housing construction, but as a comprehensive effort to build and strengthen sustainable communities.
The Foundation has a long-standing history of resettlement initiatives in Artsakh. Since 2003, we have supported the development of entire neighborhoods, complete with essential infrastructure and necessary amenities, with a particular focus on the Kashatagh region. More than 45 resettlement projects were implemented, encompassing not only home construction and renovation, but also broader community development efforts. These included the creation of agricultural livelihoods such as tomato and grape cultivation, greenhouse development, animal husbandry facilities, and other income-generating opportunities.
Today, our resettlement efforts are focused on Armenia. Our foremost priority is to support forcibly displaced Artsakh families in securing stable housing and rebuilding their lives. At the same time, we aim to foster collective spaces where communities can preserve their identity, maintain social bonds, and begin a new chapter with dignity and resilience.
“Yeg to Svarants” (Come to Svarants) serves as our pilot resettlement initiative in Syunik, Armenia, and is a key component of the broader Syunik Revitalization Program, supporting displaced Artsakh families while strengthening community life.
